Getting Started

About Therapy & Counselling

How do I know if I need therapy?

If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or facing challenges in your emotions or relationships, therapy can help provide clarity and support. You don't need to wait until things feel "serious" to reach out.

Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. All sessions are strictly confidential, with exceptions only where required by law or if there are concerns about safety.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. We offer both in-person and online sessions, depending on your preference and availability.

What if I'm not sure which service is right for me?

That's completely okay. You can reach out to us and we'll guide you based on your needs. You may also choose to start with a Mental Health Screening & Consultation, though this is not required.

Sessions & Process

How Therapy Works at Ekō

How long is each session?

Individual sessions typically last 50–60 minutes. Couples and family sessions are 75–90 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your goals and situation. Some people come for short-term support, while others choose to work more deeply over time. We will discuss this together based on your needs.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity to understand what brings you in and what you're hoping for. We'll explore your concerns, background, and goals, and discuss how we can work together moving forward.

Do I need to prepare anything before coming for therapy?

No preparation is required. You can come as you are, whether you have something specific to talk about or just a sense that something isn't quite right.
