Sometimes the most powerful healing happens in the presence of others. A facilitated group creates a unique space to be witnessed, to witness others, and to discover you are not alone.
Group therapy is a powerful form of support. Meeting with a small group of people navigating similar challenges, under the guidance of a trained facilitator, can create connection, insight, and a stronger sense that change is possible.
At Ekō, our groups are small, carefully curated, and run periodically based on interest and need. Reach out to hear about current and upcoming offerings.
Why Group?
Hearing that others share your struggles — and have found ways through — reduces isolation and shame in a way that words from a therapist alone rarely can.
The group itself becomes a relational laboratory. Patterns you carry from other parts of your life show up in real time — and can be noticed, explored, and shifted.
Other group members often offer the kind of honest, caring reflection that is difficult to access elsewhere — perspectives that open new windows on familiar problems.
The group creates a safe environment to try out new ways of communicating, setting limits, expressing needs, or being vulnerable — before taking these skills into everyday life.
Contributing to another person's wellbeing is itself therapeutic. The experience of being useful — of having something to offer — is deeply restorative for many group members.
Group therapy is generally available at a lower cost per session than individual therapy, making deeper therapeutic support more accessible.
Our groups are closed — meaning the same members attend throughout the duration — and typically consist of 5–8 participants. This consistency allows genuine trust and depth to develop over time.
Groups run for approximately 90 minutes per session, typically fortnightly or monthly. Before joining, every prospective group member meets with the facilitator individually to ensure the group is the right fit and that the prospective member is at a stage where group work is likely to be beneficial.
Upcoming groups are themed around specific experiences or life stages: relationship patterns, workplace stress and burnout, life transitions, or personal growth. We will add current group offerings to this page — please reach out via WhatsApp to hear what is available.
Group therapy is a good fit if you are:
Group therapy is generally not recommended as a first step for people in acute crisis, or for very recent trauma. If you are unsure, get in touch and we can talk through what would best serve you.
Some people also combine individual and group therapy — using individual sessions to process more personal material alongside the relational learning that group therapy provides.
